COVID 19: We have been carefully monitoring the Government announcements and advice re Covid 19 over the last few days and also the Evangelical Alliance website. Based on the advice given so far, we have decided to cancel all of our organised church meetings with immediate effect. This means that we will not meet on Sunday mornings, in home groups, toddler groups, prayer meetings, Community Cafe etc. until further notice. We do not want to do this but we will believe that this is the best course of action and is the wisest thing to do, given what we know at this time. We will share more information in the next few days as we get a clearer picture of what lies ahead. We will be closely monitoring email so please use this to contact us if you wish to do so as our office is now closed and we are working from home for the foreseeable future.
At Yeovil Family Church we want to see everyone grow in their knowledge and relationship with God. This involves helping non-Christians to have faith in Jesus Christ, as well as nurturing and discipling young Christians on the road to maturity in faith character and knowledge. We believe every Christian is gifted and able to serve according to the talents and gifts the Holy Spirit has given them, so our aim is to see people released to do this. We desire: to teach God's word in submission to the authority of the Bible; to reach non-Christians through friendship and invitation; to encounter the presence and filling of the Holy Spirit in our lives and meetings; to build genuine and open friendships with one another; and to build families and marriages that are strong in God.
Yeovil Family Church is part of the Evangelical Alliance and we share their basis of faith.
WE BELIEVE IN...
The one true God who lives eternally in three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God – fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.
The dignity of all people, made male and female in God’s image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.
The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ – born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.
The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.
The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
The church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers — given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.
The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth.
